Monster.ca Self-Assessment
Centre Self-Assessment Centre provides Myers-Briggs type
personality assessment and ties the results to suggested careers.
Schoolfinder 3-Step
Career Quiz Three Step Career Quiz is aimed more at high
school students, but provides a relatively quick interest inventory
which offers suggestions regarding careers and identifies schools
that offer relevant programming. You have to register to take the
test, but registration is free.
Career Key The Career Key is based on John Holland's theory of vocational choice.
TestingRoom.com This site needs free registration. Tests that
are available include discovering your values, your Career Interest, your
competencies and your work personality.
Jobs, Workers, Training and Careers Under Career Exploration, use the Identify Your Career Options link to go to some quizzes to help you decide on a career. A Government of Canada site
Career Choices Includes a tab for Quizzes, which has an interest inventory. You get an interest code which you can then match to various occupations. Warning:This site makes large use of 'Flash'. High speed Internet connection recommended.
SKILLS ASSESSMENT You can use these resources at the beginning of your vocational rehabilitation process to identify skills which may lead you to another job. You can also use them at the end of the process to identify old and new skills that you can use in your resume, covering letters and interviews.
Career Directions Use the Fields of Work section to find out what interests and skills are needed for broad categories of work.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPLORATION Now that you know your interests and skills, and have some ideas regarding the jobs you might enjoy, use these links to gain more information about those jobs including duties, educational requirements, wages, physical demands, and demand for these jobs in coming years.
Job Profiles
Includes profiles of jobs written by people actually doing those jobs. You can learn about skills, stresses, challenges and rewards of various jobs as well as getting advice from people in the positions you want.
School Finder
Career Profiles provides information regarding selected careers including duties, wages, outlook. Much information appears taken from other sources such as Job Futures.
Ontario Job Futures This HRDC-maintained site is similar to the one above, but with an Ontario focus.
National Occupational Classification This site gives you information on almost any career you can name. It will show you the physical demands of the job as well as the duties and education required.
Career Directions Use the Occupations Index to find information about various jobs including job duties and demands, average wages, and the qualities that would make you the right person for the job.
Career Key This site has a listing of Industry Links that will take you to some occupation-specific associations and websites. Use some caution because many of these links are not Canadian.
Careers in Culture This comprehensive website details information on careers in culture, as well as showing you where to find training, and including a job search link.
Possibilities Project Information on jobs, and where to find training for the jobs.
LABOUR MARKET INFORMATION Labour Market Information tells you which jobs are in demand and which are not. It tells you which occupational sectors are growing in your community, and which are shrinking. It also tells you what you can expect to earn in various jobs.
Ontario Job Futures Similar to the link above, but with an Ontario-specific focus.
